About Our Guides

Mandy Davis, Owner

With decades of guiding experience in multiple sports and a wealth of naturalist information accumulated over a lifetime, Mandy and her guides are uniquely qualified to deliver a fun, informative, and professional tour for all ages.

We had the most amazing time on our kayaking tour of the Morro Bay estuary with Mandy. She was the most knowledgeable guide I’ve ever had on a tour like this. From the history of the area to every animal we saw along the way she was a wealth of knowledge.

She began the tour by teaching us and our children the proper way to kayak which was great. It is a super safe and calm area for little ones to kayak.

This was by far a much better experience than if we were to have just rented kayaks on our own. We would have had no idea what we were looking at if we didn’t have Mandy as a guide. Can’t wait to come back and do it again!

Theo Schmidt

Hi! My name is Theo, and I'm a kayak guide here in Morro Bay. While not originally from here, I quickly fell in love with this area when I came here to study biology at Cal Poly University (just down the road).

When I’m not paddling around the bay, I love to be hiking in the hills around town, camping up in Big Sur, or climbing with friends.

Trish Boaz

My love of nature and the outdoors started very early in life and never stopped growing—nature never gets old.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, hiking and camping with my parents, four sisters, and three brothers. Every summer, we would crowd into the Vista Cruiser station wagon and take off for a national park.

Fortunately, my uncle was a ranger during the summer, and our destination was often Yosemite. I tell people that Half Dome is my “touch stone” My outdoor adventures have included experiencing the freezing waters of the Gros Ventre River in the Grand Tetons, altitude sickness on Mt. Lassen, daring climbs on Half Dome, geyser burns in Yellowstone, a near drowning at Half Moon Bay and a train derailment on the White Pass Trail in Alaska.

After an amazing 30+ year career protecting the environment in San Diego County, I retired and returned to San Luis Obispo—where my family has thrived for four generations. I am fortunate to hike every day and love to share and explore this area with other people.
